Dutch NT2 Teacher (FTE 0,7 - 0,8)
Starting in the 2025/2026 school year, the International School Hilversum is looking for an enthusiastic, creative Dutch teacher. For teachers with a passion for NT2 education, the ISH is a dream school. The ISH is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. This means, among other things, that our students do not take the standard Dutch exam, but an international exam.
We offer various levels at the ISH. Our student population is very diverse, not only in terms of nationality but also regarding their command of Dutch. In the Dutch section, most teachers teach not only Dutch to students who are fluent in the language but also NT2 to non-native speakers.
The language of instruction at the ISH is English, but all kinds of other languages can also be heard in the staff room. We have colleagues from Argentina, Spain, France, England, Romania, Canada, Sweden, and so on.
In recent years, several teachers in the Dutch section have made the switch from a Dutch school to our international school. They are very positive about the ISH. 'I have become enthusiastic about teaching again,' says colleague Michael van Brummelen, 'because at this school the goal of my lessons is much more clearly visible to me and I no longer concern myself with things that I perceive as not useful.'
We are looking for:
- a secondary school Dutch teacher with NT2 experience;
- someone with good communication and social skills;
- a creative, flexible, independent and conscientious personality;
- someone with a good command of English.
Experience with IB education is desirable but not necessary.
Anyone who recognizes themselves in this description is cordially invited to apply or come and take a look at our school.
We embrace technology and offer extensive opportunities for professional development.
Our school is centrally located in Hilversum, just a 10-minute walk from Hilversum station and 5 minutes from Hilversum Sportpark station. Additionally, we have our own parking facilities where employees can park for free.
For more information, please contact Cecilia Neethling, Director.

At ISH you’ll keep growing
Within the IB platform you can follow many courses and training programs, for both new and experienced IB teachers and staff. Whether you want to deepen your subject knowledge, broaden your teaching skills or develop your leadership qualities… at ISH there’s always a way to grow.

A healthy work-life balance
In the Netherlands it’s common to share a class with a co-teacher, and ISH supports this approach. This can be interesting if you consider a part-time role. Combine that with excellent childcare options in Hilversum and you’ll find it much easier to balance your work and private life.

Yes. In the Netherlands we are very used to co-teaching, which makes part-time roles easy to arrange.
You need a recognised teaching qualification and a good match with the IB approach. Experience helps, but mindset matters too. English language must be a piece of cake for you.
