Secretary/Administration

IB Librarian Continuum

0,6 - 0,8 fte (3 or 4 days)

The International School Hilversum is looking for someone who ideally has worked in a secondary IB setting and has experience of duties as a Librarian. Ideally you can bring in your own ideas and experience to help raise the status and profile of the library and its use within the school. At IB World Schools across the globe, librarians are providing educational and pedagogical leadership, and are often involved in varied collaborative investigations with teachers and students, as well as developing and managing the library itself.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing a supporting role to the IB PYP, MYP and DP programme for personal learning and projects
  • Promote the use of the library for whole school teaching and learning
  • Assist students in selecting and referencing materials for the task ahead
  • Ensure (text) books and (online) resources are well organised and up to date
  • Cataloguing & Indexing using technology
  • Making the library engaged in using media programmes
  • Planning and deploying library-based lessons regularly
  • Have clear policies and procedures that are up to date in the library
  • Ensure the library is a friendly and organized environment
  • Promote the library resources and reading by inviting authors, organising book events etc
  • Supporting and leading staff and students on the issues around academic intergrity

Preferably you have:

  • Good command of English, writing and speaking;
  • Excellent social and communication skills;
  • Both happy and able to work in a team;
  • Ability to work with students of all age groups;
  • Experience with the IB programmes
  • Work experience in an international school library

Education and other:

  • Appropriate Teaching qualification,
  • Dutch passport or eligibility to live and work in the Netherlands
  • A “Verklaring van goed gedrag”(VOG) will be required upon appointment

Secretary/Administration

5 Mornings

The International School Hilversum is looking for someone who ideally has worked in a secondary school administration setting. You could have experience as a secretary in an international environment and are preferably comfortable in both Dutch and English. You have a service orientated mentality and represent the school in a professional and friendly manner. You are familiar with and very comfortable with ICT systems and all Office packages. New systems does not scare you and you are eager to learn.


Your duties will include:

  • Being responsible for the upkeep of student records and school files, including student enrolment and the production of school reports
  • Maintaining a variety of computerized records, files and databases
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with parents, students and staff
  • Providing administrative support to the leadership team and to the school community
  • Performing secretarial and administrative tasks of a varied nature.
  • Maintaining inventory of office supplies and materials

Preferably you have:

  • Very good command of English, writing and speaking;
  • Excellent social and communication skills;
  • Both happy and able to work in a team;
  • Ability to work with students of all age groups;
  • Internationally minded, open minded

Education and other:

  • Appropriate administration/secretarial qualification
  • Dutch passport or eligibility to live and work in the Netherlands
