Quite a number of parents are actively involved in the school through the PTA or 'Ouderraad'. Its aim is to support the interests of the students and their parents or guardians and promotes contact between everyone at International School Hilversum - students, parents, teachers and staff.
The Board of the PTA aims to advise the parent representatives in the DMR (Deelmedezeggeschapsraad or Works committee) and the school management, providing a forum in which issues regarding students, parents and the whole school can be discussed, seeking appropriate solutions in consultation with all parties involved.
The PTA Social Committee organises social events and fundraising activities in the school and helps families who recently moved to The Netherlands to feel welcomed and at home. The 'Welcome back to school BBQ', at the beginning of the school year, is a popular event on the annual calendar and is organised by the PTA.
Every year the PTA produces the International Community Guide to Hilversum. They produce this Guide to help new families to adjust to their new home as quickly as possible. It contains information, ideas and recommendations which both newcomers and established families can use. Please use the link to access a digital copy,
