The absolute freedoms that children enjoy in today's Western society are not solely a blessing, but they come with a price and not infrequently lead to difficult behaviour at home or at school, alienation and vulnerability, with the role and influence of both parents and teachers receding into the background.
How can we, as parents and teachers, regain grip on our children and students and how can we collaborate in order to create an effective working relationship with our children and students based on mutual understanding and respect?
A possible answer to this problem may be found in the New Authority, a concept that offers a guiding strategy for both parents and teachers to collaboratively work towards building a new authority, while respecting the child's autonomy and individual freedom, but within the safety of the home and school environment and with the enhanced presence of adults.
Idan Amiel, clinical psychologist at the Schneider Children's Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel and one of the key professionals in developing the New Authority concept, will be giving a lecture on this subject at the International School Hilversum. As Idan Amiel only rarely travels Europe, we are very excited that he has agreed to give a lecture at our school. As we share a mutual interest with regard to the wellbeing of your children and our students, we wish to invite you to attend Dr. Amiel's lecture on Monday 21 November.
If you wish to make use of this once-in-a-life-time opportunity to hear Dr. Amiel speak on this unique concept, please register before 11 November by clicking the link below:
