International School Hilversum ‘Alberdingk Thijm’ Primary School
Admission to the Primary School is open to:
The children of diverse nationalities who are transferred to the Netherlands on a short- or long-term basis.
The children of Dutch families who have lived abroad
The children of Dutch families who will be living abroad within 2 years of enrolment. This needs to be proven by means of a contract showing that either one or both parents have secured a job abroad.
Prospective students should be able to meet the following requirements
They must be between the age of 4 and 11 (as at 1st October of the year of admission). Children must be 6 before October 1st of the school year they start grade 1.
If they have followed previous education their parents must submit written evidence of this.
They must have the ability to follow the type of education in the International School and to adapt to the curriculum.
They must have a sufficient command of English or show that they have the potential to improve their English skills to the required level.
The parents must endorse the aims of the International School and must submit a written agreement to fulfil financial obligations subsequent to admission. To this effect, the school requires parents’ signatures on the application form.
They must adhere to the behavioural expectations of a community of learners.
An offer of a place is normally subject to interview. In the case of older children it may also be subject to a written test.
Places at the school can be offered up to the capacity at that time and also up to the capacity of individual classes. The optimum number of children in any one classroom is 18 to 24.
Children will normally be placed in ‘combination classes’ of two year groups.
Children who attend the Primary School will normally, at the age of 11, be offered a place in the Middle Years Programme at the International School
